2018 Section IV Runner-up.

J Angotti to States.

Submitted by: C. Murray, Boys Varsity Swim Coach

Joey Angotti qualified for the state championships in multiple events as Southern Cayuga boys swimming finished second at the Section IV championships Saturday.
Angotti was first and broke a school record in the 100 butterfly where he also met the state standard, and also finished second in the 200 freestyle while breaking his own school record. Ian Murray took first in the 100 backstroke and second in 200 individual medley.
Two relay teams took bronze — the 200 medley relay (Jordan Stephenson, Murray, Angotti and George Vreeland) and the 400 freestyle relay (Angotti, Stephenson, Vreeland and Murray). The 200 medley relay team broke a 40-year school record, while Angotti's individual cut time in the 400 free relay qualified him for states in the 100 freestyle.
Southern Cayuga wraps up the season with a record of 12-2. Angotti will move on to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship meet March 2 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Long Island.
