2019-20 Budget

Southern Cayuga Central School District residents will vote on a $17,790,648 budget proposal for the 2019-20 school year on Tuesday, May 21, from 7 am to 9 pm in the District Office. Voters will also select from three candidates for three open seats on the Board of Education and consider three additional propositions: the creation of a capital reserve, the purchase of transportation vehicles, and taxpayer support for the Aurora Free Library and the Hazard Library Association.

The Board of Education proposes a projected tax levy increase of 1%. The increase is the second lowest increase in more than 25 years. The proposed budget strikes a balance between maintaining student programming with a nominal and prudent tax levy increase. Fortunately, contractual cost increases will be by the Board of Education using savings the District may realize at the end of the fiscal year.
