PRESS RELEASE October 10, 2009
From: Southern Cayuga Central School
PUBLIC ASTRONOMY NIGHT at the
SOUTHERN CAYUGA PLANETARIUM
For thousands of years people have wondered about the distance from Earth to the sun, moon, and stars. Dr. Shashi Kanbur, Assistant Professor of Physics at SUNY Oswego, is refining the intergalactic yardstick and will tell this story of Measuring the Universe at Southern Cayuga Planetarium.
The show is at 7:30 pm, Friday, October 16, 2009 It is accompanied by a stars-on-the-dome program, What’s Up! Clear skies permitting, our nearby Observatory will open following the Planetarium show. The event is free and open to all. We take no reservations but advise arriving fifteen minutes early for the best seating. Doors close when the theater’s sixty seats are filled.
The school is located immediately south of Poplar Ridge on the east side of Route 34B. Maps with directions to the school and the campus are on the web at www.southerncayuga.org; click on Driving Directions and/or Campus Map.
