In addition to regularly scheduled Public Astronomy Nights, ,the observatory is open for public viewing when sky conditions permit and operators are available. To be notified by email about both Public Astronomy Nights and other observing opportunities, send a request to Alan Ominsky at ominskya@southerncayuga.org.

Usually observing nights occur when the moon is new, sets early, or rises very late. The sky background is darker making faint objects appear brighter and show more detail. Since the weather is problematic, observing nights are selected on short notice. If the observatory will be open an email announcement is sent to the "Star Party" list by 6:00 pm. If you look outside and see clear sky and are thinking about stargazing, check your email.

Special sessions for any group of two or more are invited. Contact Alan Ominsky, as shown above, or at home 315-364-7461.

Individuals are invited to bring their own telescopes to our very dark skies. Announcements of Planetarium shows and other astronomy activities are also sent to the list.
