Southern Cayuga’s Technology Plan Technology Update Access School Island
Southern Cayuga Schools - Technology Department, strives to provide the best and most current technology,
standards and equipment, for the educational development of our students and tools for our teachers and staff.
We actively pursue all possible avenues to support our District's educational needs.

The Department of Technology and Network Services here at SCCS, wishes to thank you for your support on the
Excel Grant Proposition. Your confidence will allow us to bring several exciting improvements in the use of technology as a
learning tool for our students. The most intriguing, being the ability to move “Distant Learning” and “Virtual Field Trips”
directly to the classroom; as well as the ability to stream video, to add visual content to their learning process.
Recently, we added a software service or tool, called School Island. This allows students to access practice skills
in all “core” subject areas, as well as the ability to connect to them, via the Internet, essentially from anywhere. Access to this
service is available above, under “
Additionally, our own website and the teacher “classroom” web pages also continue to grow. The Classroom websites are
available directly from our district Home Page or by clicking => Here
Classroom and Lab systems are upgraded, as needed, to keep abreast of the changes in technology.
In addition, the wireless laptop carts, also known as "COWS" (Computers On Wheels), have taken an instrumental
role in providing student access to data and research tools from any classroom. Additionally, they provide a needed tool for
Staff Development and "off-campus" projects, as well as the ability to perform experiments and develop critical skills in an
"Un-tethered" atmosphere.
Below are links to photographs of several of our technological advancements.
Do not be alarmed, if several of these photographs take some time to open, when accessed by a modem.
