STAR Exemption
If a taxpayer believes they should have received the Basic STAR exemption and it does not show on the tax bill, they should contact the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance to settle the issue. If a refund is due, it will come from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. The phone number is (518) 457-2036.
If a taxpayer believes they should have received the Enhanced STAR exemption, they should direct those questions to the local assessor. If they were in fact eligible for the Enhanced STAR exemption, the local assessor will submit paperwork to the Cayuga County Office of Real Property Services to process a correction to the tax bill.
